Introduction

Telstar Downflow booths provide high levels of operator protection (OEL <100 mg/m3) from Potentially harmful airborne contaminants generated during manual powder handling operations such as sampling, charging and dispensing while also protecting the product (Class ISO 5) from the surrounding area contamination creating a clean operator safe processing zone minimizing cross contamination risk from other products/processes.

The Downflow booth operates on a recirculatory airflow principle. Clean laminar flow air is supplied from the ceiling, suppressing any dust clouds generated during any processing operation and removing airborne particles away from the operator's breathing zone (OEL < 100 µg/m3). Return air grilles at the base of the rear wall capture the airborne contaminants generated. The exhaust airflow then passes through a series of filtration stages before re-entering the booth through the ceiling plenum. A small percentage of air is discharged from the booth through the bleed exhaust port to keep the working space under negative pressure. The fact that the booth works with a net inward airflow, ensures airborne contamination cannot escape into the external environment completing the many advantages of this effective containment system.
